BYRON BLACK

“My art is archeological.  One has to take a closer look, dig deeper, to understand the depth of humanity in a painting.’’ – Byron Black

His work shows in the collections of  Dr. Dre, Vin Diesel, Drew Barrymore, Saint Laurent, Bank of America, J P Morgan Chase, Bernie Ecclestone, Markus Peerson (Minecraft), Donna Summer, Larry Hagman, Mikhail Gorbachev, International House Hotel, Ruby Bridges, Disney, Kathy Van Zeeland, B. Makowsky, Cielo Winery, John Paul Richards Fashions, Kimber Rifles, Diane Lane, Leeza Gibbons and Macy’s.  He is currently working on pieces for Indian Motorcycles and Buck Knives.

A self-taught artist, Byron turned down a full ride art scholarship preferring instead to travel across 48 U.S. states, Canada and Mexico to immerse himself in studying the great masterpieces in museums across America. Byron was born in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up primarily in Texas. Inspired by Gerhard Richter, Picasso and Robert Rauschenberg, his work explores the relationship between artistic expression, spirituality, pop culture, escapism, and the human condition.  He enjoys exploring various mediums and has developed his own unique techniques that utilize non-traditional materials. He currently resides Scottsdale, Arizona.
